It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Mona Richards, 62, dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend on Monday, July 25, 2016 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late William and Effie (Bobbitt) Patey. Mona was a longtime member of the staff of the Clansman Motel in North Sydney where she worked with her first cousin and friend, Karen LeMoine, preparing meals for tourists and locals for over 44 years. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter. Mona was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in North Sydney.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; her two daughters, Denise (James) Jobes and Jennifer (Michelle) Richards both of North Sydney; by her six grandchildren, Nikita, Chelsie, Kalie, Tessa, James, Ethan and great-granddaughter Melody. Also surviving are her siblings, Norman (Susan) Patey, Thunder Bay Ont., Billy (Shirley) Patey, Big Bras d’Or, Patti (Rev. Ron Coole), Westmount, Michael (Diane) Patey, Dryden, Ont., Tom (Judy) Patey, North Sydney, Fay Patey, Bridgewater, N.S.
Besides her parents, Mona was predeceased by a brother, Robert and sister, Debbie. Visitation for Mona will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2016 at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2p.m. at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or any charity.
