Sadly missed by 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, special family friend, Neila Gallagher and two siblings Cleave and Raymore (Reta), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Kenneth (Mike) was born Feb. 15, 1932, near Peterborough, Ontario. Enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy July 1949 where he served for 25 years having been in every rank from ordinary seaman to Captain. Upon retiring from the Navy, with help from an extraordinary friend, Harry Steele, he started a new career in the Hotel business (Mount Peyton) for 20 years and then assumed control of the Glynmill Inn in Corner Brook. In 1996 he retired from the hotel business and returned to his hometown in Peterborough with his wife Betty and was able to enjoy a part of his retired years reconnecting with his brothers, old friends and making new ones. He loved music, dancing and gardening, all of which he had time to enjoy during those years. In the past few years of his illness, many times he was blessed to be in the company of a dear friend, Catherine Steele and she would play all of his favourite songs. Hearing Catherine play was the highlight of his week. The family would like to thank Dr. Blackie, who made numerous calls to our home, Dr. Culleton and staff of the Gander Cancer Center who were a tremendous support, the Rehab home program, name Debbie Bouzane (physio therapist) who worked very hard to help him achieve his many goals, Greg Banfield and the Palliative Care team for the wonderful caring support and direction, Majors' Anthony and Yvonne LeDrew, our very special friends Harry and Catherine Steele, Rex and Betty Primmer, Wendy Snook and many visits from Terry Chaffey. Many thanks to all. The family will receive at Staceys Funeral Home on Rowe Avenue in Gander on Monday 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm.
