Rose Agnes Laffin (Gouthro), age 62, passed away quietly in her sleep in QE II Victoria General critical care unit Sunday, May 7, 2017 with her family at her side. Rose was the daughter of the late Arthur and Christene (Leaver) Gouthro.
Born in North Sydney Rose moved to Dartmouth at age 16 to live with her sister. She soon found employment at T. Eaton Co, for whom she worked at both Halifax Shopping Center and Mic Mac Mall until its closure. Aferwards, she worked for many years at Wal-Mart Penhorn. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved her family and enjoyed a fun family gathering, particularly Boxing Day at Georgie’s.
Rose adored her children and grandsons. Nanny cherished the time spent with her grandsons, especially the weekend visits.
Rose is survived by loving husband of 42 years, Dougie; son, Mark (Tammy); daughter, Lauren (Ross Hunter); grandsons, Ryan and Jakob; sisters, Georgina (Arthur Millett), Betty (Greg Laffin); brother, Leonard (Linda), and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers, Stan and Dennis.
Many thanks to staff of Victoria General Hospital, especially Dr. Scott Livingstone and his team. Also the doctors and nurses of 6B stepdown unit and Critical Care unit.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to QE II foundation.
Funeral arrangements cared for by Dartmouth Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will Monday, May 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Flying Cloud Dr. Cole Harbour. Funeral Mass will be held at the same location Tuesday, May 16 at 10 a.m. followed by a reception. A private family ceremony will take place after reception.
