Elsie Melba Tucker, 87, Truro, passed away peacefully Aug. 22, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, surrounded by her family. Born Aug. 14, 1921 in Truro Heights, she was the eldest daughter of the late Amos Wesley and Verna (Roberts) Blois. Elsie was a member of Brunswick Street United Church and past president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 106, Debert Ladies Auxiliary. Nanny T loved doing jigsaw puzzles, socializing with her family and friends and traveling, especially along the coastline. She also enjoyed spending time with those she loved and cared for and she left us with a lifetime of precious memories. She is survived by her children Stella (Loomis) Gamblin, Hilden; David (Lois) Dow, Bathurst, N.B.; Alvena Currie, Truro; Shirley (Ronald) MacDonald, Truro Heights; Robert (Margaret) Tucker, England; sister Eva Butt, Truro; grandchildren Sharon, Kathy, Charlene, Albert, Deanna, Hazen, Shawna, Kari, Tracey, Darcie, Candace, Willie, Tina, Sonia, Charlton, Julie, David, Scott, Tina; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Hazen Dow; her second husband Borden Tucker; grandson Ricky MacDonald and sister Jennie. Visitation will be held this evening from 6 to 9 p.m.; funeral service on Sunday at 2 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. David Lutes officiating. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation or a charity of choice.
