GREENWOOD, Pictou County - Mrs. Veronica "Ronnie" Vera Smith, 87, Greenwood, Pictou County, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2007, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, the former Veronica Parsons, she was a daughter of the late Josie (Parsons) MacNeil. She was an adherent of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn, Ronnie enjoyed helping out in community affairs and events. A very caring person, her children and grandchildren were very dear to her. She will be sadly missed by her husband, John B. Smith; daughters, Nina (James) O'Hara, MacLellan's Brook; Jane (Lloyd) Kenny, White Hill; sons, Keith (Marion) Smith, Thorburn, and Alfred (Jeanie) Smith, Greenwood; a sister, Etta Bowser, Vancouver, 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, June Davis; and brothers, George, Jack and Billy MacNeil. Visitations will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Burial will be in Castle Hill Cemetery, MacLellan's Brook. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to the I.W.K.- Grace Hospital or to Glen Haven Manor.
