Wirges We regret to announce the passing of a wonderful and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and especially Friend. Claire Marie Anne Wirges died peacefully on June 10th, 2008 at Moose Jaw Union Hospital at the age of 72. Predeceased by her parents Emile and Blandine (Gingras) Gaucher; infant son Emil; brothers Lucien, Denis, Gilbert, Alex and sister, Sr. Evelyn. Claire is survived by her husband Gerry of over 53 years; six children: Leona Ballantyne, Susan Bolen, David (Evelyn) Wirges, Paulette Wirges, Sandy Osmond (Randy) and Mike (Nancy) Wirges; 15 grandchildren and welcomed one great-grandchild, just 11 days ago; four brothers: Edgar (Laurianne) Gaucher, Louis (Yvette) Gaucher, Olivier (Pauline) Gaucher, Lionel (Marilyn) Gaucher; two sisters Helen Seager (Dave) and Dianne Yohemas (Ed);sisters-in-law Dee Gauchar and Eleanor Christie; several nieces and nephews. Claire was born January 18, 1936 in Coderre, SK. She married Gerry on November 17, 1954 and resided in Coderre working at Coderre High School until 1988, when they moved to Moose Jaw. She worked at both St. Margaret's and Vanier Collegiate schools while also occasionally working at Church of Our Lady. Claire will be remembered for her incredible open and generous heart, based on the many close friendships she developed over the years. She is widely known for her "Great Buns" (baking!); her love of Ice Wine (Ice Cube in her favorite home made Wine!) in addition to her amazing sense of Fun, Adventure, and Love for Life. She always practiced an "Open Door" philosophy, generously welcoming anyone and everyone. Everyone will miss Claire's warm and generous heart, smile, and laughter. The Funeral Mass will take place Friday, June 13th, 10:00 am at Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughn Drive, Moose Jaw. Lunch will follow in the Church Hall. Interment will take place in Coderre Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Evening Prayers will be held on Thursday, June 12th beginning at 7:00 p.m. also at Church of Our Lady. In lieu of flowers, donations will gladly be accepted by the Canadian Cancer Society 61B Ross Street Moose Jaw, SK. S6H 2M2.
