VAN TASSEL, FRANCES R. - The death of Frances R. Van Tassel of Rocmaura Nursing Home, widow of Lawrence Van Tassel, occurred at her residence on Sunday, January 18, 2004. Mrs. Van Tassel was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late Robert and Norah (Burke) King. She had been a member of the Catholic Women's League and St. Joseph's Hospital Auxillary. She was pre-deceased by a niece, Norah McCarthy whom she resided with for many years. She is survived one son, John (Eleanor) of Halifax; three grandsons; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of the King Family. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
