Aleita Muriel (Bacon) Rawding

The death of Aleita Muriel (Bacon) Rawding occurred peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Friday, January 16, 2009. Born in Nappan, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Beverly and Lily (Trueman) Reid. Aleita enjoyed playing cards and knitting, and made afghans to give to palliative care and the hospital. She gave over 95 afghans to the local hospital alone. In addition she would knit hats and mittens for The Christmas Cheer Foundation. She will be sadly missed by her son, David (Louise) Bacon of Amherst; three grandchildren, Roger (Patty) Turner of Amherst, Peter Bacon of Amherst and Darlene (Frank) Manning of Toronto; three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Gerald Stiles of Amherst. Besides her parents, Aleita was predeceased by her first husband, Harry Bacon and her second husband Arthur Rawding; one daughter, Minnie Turner; two granddaughters; four sisters and two brothers. Aleita's remains have been entrusted into the care and supervision of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-8777) from where visitation was held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009. A funeral service took place at the funeral home 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2009.
