ZGAGA (EAGLES), ALICE MAE - Peacefully at Toronto General Hospital, following a lengthy illness, Alice departed this life on Wednesday, January 24, 2007. Born in Saint John on February 20, 1941, Alice was the only daughter of the late Margaret Janet (Ring) Eagles. After moving to Toronto in 1962, Alice worked as a photo lab technician prior to her marriage to August (Gus) Zgaga, who died in 1989. Later, acting upon her great love for children, Alice started what would become both her passion and her career - a home-based daycare. Alice is survived by one daughter, Alana (husband Michael) of Toronto, On, one son, Allan of Prince George, BC, twin brother, Thomas (wife Marion) of Rothesay, younger brother, Wayne of Saint John, five grandchildren, Ethan, Aiden, Brooke, Victoria and Christian, two aunts, two uncles and numerous cousins as well as many friends in both Toronto and Saint John. Alice's compassion, generosity and sense of humor will long be remembered by all who knew and loved her. For those who so desire, memorial donations to the N.B Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated by the family. Cremation and interment will take place in Toronto.
