FRANCES ELAINE JOHNSTON

JOHNSTON, FRANCES ELAINE - of Lawrencetown, NS formerly of Saint John, NB. It is with regret that we announce the passing of a sister, an aunt and a good friend, at the Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville on February 9th, 2008. Frances was born at Freeport, Digby County, N.S., April 28th, 1919 to Austin and Beatrice (Israel) Westcott. Her early education was in Freeport and she graduated from High School there. She enrolled in the Modern Business College at St. John, N.B. and in the ensuing years worked for various business firms in the city including the St. John Dry Dock. She and her husband later opened one of the area's first Dairy Bars just outside the city limits. Frances enjoyed traveling and trailering throughout the Maritimes with her husband. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry; her parents and brother, Rev. Dr. S.A. Westcott. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Maxine Corey with whom she resided for the last four years; her nephews, James (Marlene) Corey, Robert Corey and Greg Scott. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Jim (Lois) Johnston, nieces and nephews, Derek, Terry, Betty Sue, and Kelly in the United States. A funeral service will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, February 12th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 with a reception to follow the service. Rev. Barbara Bishop officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia, Freeport United Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
