KENNETH C.C. BAXTER
BAXTER, KENNETH C.C. - After failing health, at the St. Joseph's Hospital on August 26, 2008, in his 91st year, of Saint John West passed away. Husband of Audrey (Dykeman) Baxter for 65 years. Born in Bayswater, NB on June 17, 1918, he was the son of the late William and Edna (Gibbons) Baxter. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Baxter retired from the Saint John Police Department with the rank of Inspector, after 31 years and was the oldest retiree of the department. After his retirement he was employed with the Bank of Canada in the Security Department between Saint John and Halifax. He was a 1965 graduate of the R.C.M.P Police College in Ottawa. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, a member of the Retired Police Association & Saint John City Retiree Employee Association. Kenneth was an avid gardener & was a skilled craftsman. Besides his wife, Audrey he is survived by his 2 sons, Gordon W. (Dawn), of Carleton Place, Ont. and Malcolm K. (Anne), of Grafton, NS; daughter, Rosalie (Hugh) Brittain, of Saint John West; 5 grandchildren, Carl Baxter and Andrea (Shawn) Monette, both of Carleton Place, Ont., Jennifer (Rick) Fernette, Scott Brittain , and Lindsay (Serge) Vautour, all of Saint John; 5 great grandchildren, Erynn, Nathan, Molly, Claire and Libby and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold and 2 sisters, Elsie Stewart and Edna Reicker. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave., (634-1701) visitation will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel". Interment to follow in Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery. Donations, in memory of Kenneth, may be made to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation or charity of the donor's choice.
