Victor "Vic" Lewis 1909 - 2004 Victor Lewis, 94, of Riverview and formerly of Moncton passed away at The Moncton Hospital in Moncton on Tuesday, May 4, 2004. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Corey and Carrie (Eagles) Lewis. He was the former owner of Lewis and Nugent in Moncton. He was a member of Central United Church and he was a steward of the Church. Vic was an avid sportsman, he was a star pitcher with the Moncton Cubs and was inducted to the N.B. Baseball Hall of Fame, Moncton Wall of Fame and most recently the Salisbury Big Stop Wall of Fame for Baseball, Curling and Golf. He was a member of the MCA and was Past President and Honorary Life Member of the Moncton Golf and Country Club and he was Past President of the Maritime Senior Golf Association. Vic was a former Club Champion of MG&CC and he had won the Maritime Senior Golf Title. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club and Probus. He is survived by his children, Doug (Peggy Halfpenny) Lewis of Moncton, Carole Mix (Don) of Moncton and Brian (Valerie McLaughlin) Lewis of Riverview; six grandchildren, Kathy and Karen Lewis, Brenda (Luis) Moreno, David (Sheila) Lewis, Mike Lewis, Jeff (Claudine) Milburn; three great grandchildren, Brett, Sarah and Julia, and by a sister, Dorothy Mitton of Harrisville, NB and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Nugent) Lewis in 1986 and by brothers, Ray, Trueman, Paul, Corey and Vernon Lewis and sisters, Vivian Henry and Winona Cochrane. There will be private family visitation at the Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, Moncton. The memorial service will be held at Central United Church on Friday May 7, 2004 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jim MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or to Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by Vic's family.
