Whitney Pier The family is saddened to announce the passing of Frank W. Sheppard of Whitney Pier, at the Glace Bay Healthcare Facility on Jan. 17, 2009. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Frank and Elsie (Wilson) Sheppard. Frank retired in 1991 after 26 years of service with the Nova Scotia Power-Seaboard Generating Station, Glace Bay. He was well respected by his fellow employees and had a strong work ethic. In earlier years, he was a member of the Sydney Lions Club, mainly working with the blind. Frank belonged to Sydney Lodge No. 84, Cape Breton Preceptory No. 43, Prince of Wales Chapter No. 10 and Philae Temple of Shriners. Frank enjoyed his visits on the hill with Angie and Bobby discussing the issues of the day and the odd lie. Frank is survived by his wife, Kennina (Holmes); a daughter, Debbie Sheppard (Wayne LeMoine), Bedford; a son, Brian, at home; granddaughter, Kaitlyn LeMoine, Ithaca, N.Y.; grandson, Matthew LeMoine, Bedford. Also surviving are sisters, Joyce, late Ron Collison, Hamilton, Faith (Bill) Adair, San Diego, Calif., Joan (Bill) MacKay, Markham, Ont.; several nieces and nephews; many cousins and a large extended family of friends. Also surviving are uncles, Melrose (Jackie) and Walter Wilson. To respect Frank's wishes there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. at St. Alban's Church with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating. Interment at Hardwood Hill Cemetery, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children's Fund or charity of choice.
