Sackville, N.B. - Rhona Annie Richards, age 85, of Sackville, N.B., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born on April 17, 1923 in Midgic, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Phinney) Estabrooks. Rhona will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Doreen Richards of Dorchester, N.B., Marie Callender (Wade Hart) and Paulette (Gerald) Swimm both of Sackville; two sisters, Hazel Long of Sackville, N.B,. and Coreen (William F.) Patterson of Sackville, N.B.; sister-in-law Margaret Estabrooks of Sackville, N.B.; and brother-in-law Eanis Collins of Amherst, N.S.; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Granville Richards; infant son; two sisters, Hilda Estabrooks and Barb Collins; three brothers, Kenneth, Reginald and Norval; son-in-law Clayton Callender; brothers-in-law Ralph Long and Hedley Estabrooks; and sisters-in-law, Alma Estabrooks and Hazel Estabrooks. Rhona was an avid quilter, knitter and sewer. She loved to keep vegetable and flower gardens and was a wonderful cook. She always had cookies for the neighborhood children and welcomed anyone to her home. Rhona was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. Arrangements were entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Cremation has taken place. The family received visitors on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, from 6-9 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, where the Sackville Fire Department held a service at 7 p.m. The funeral service was held on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at 2 p.m., from the Midgic Baptist Church with Rev. Hal Lowther officiating. Burial followed in the Midgic Cemetery. Following the service, family and friends were invited to join in a time of fellowship and remembrance at St. Ann’s Anglican Church Hall.
