Passed peacefully in the presence of his family and in the tender care of the nurses at Palliative Care Leonard Miller Centre on February 13, 2008, J. Raymond Fennelly of Port Kirwan, age 92 years. Left with fond and loving memories his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Clara Belle (nee Ryan); dearest father of Catherine Cahill, St. John's, Tom (Sandy), St. John's, Janet Symes (George), Lower Sackville, NS, Dot Brothers (John), St. John's, Ray (Beth), St. John's and Sharon Sinnott (Philip), Port Kirwan; loving grandfather to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Raymond will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by a large circle of family, relatives and friends. Raymond Fennelly was a quiet, dignified man with a tremendous generosity for everyone he came upon. He lived a very full life doing the things he loved. He loved Bear Cove Point, where he lived and was the light keeper for more than half of his life. He loved fishing and hunting and always enjoyed his time in the country. He loved to read and travel the world through the pages he read. He loved music and welcomed a tune anytime of day. He loved to dance and spent many years with the assistance of his wife (his personal musician) keeping the traditional Newfoundland dances alive. He loved a good waltz. He loved a good kitchen party and welcomed countless visitors to his home for many a session. He loved the singers who came and shared their songs and numerous musicians that would come to play and join Belle on the accordian. He loved the people of Port Kirwan. He appreciated your constant visits and your care, but mostly he appreciated your time especially in his later years. His family would like to offer special thanks to Vicky Ward and all the staff at 7E St. Clare's, and the staff at the Miller Centre for their kindness and unfailing care. To Dr. Thomas McGarry, who Raymond admired immensely and to Dr. Joy Cluett who he always looked forward to seeing. Resting at Fahey's Funeral Home, Fermeuse.
