The passing of Idella Vivian Jones of New Maryland, N.B occurred on April 7th 2010 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital after a short illness with cancer. Born in Waasis, NB on April 27th, 1925, the daughter of the late Harry E. and H. Pearl (Howland) Hayward of Nasonworth, NB. As a young woman Idella worked in her parents store in Nasonworth, NB and later years she worked at the Korner Shop and Bakery, York Bakery and Thornes Flowers. She was a lifelong member of the Nasonworth Baptist Church, member of the Clara Morgan W.M.S. group, President of the New Maryland Womens Institute, and President of the Rusagonis LOBA #423. Idella is survived by son Deverne (Anne) Jones of Nasonworth; daughter Betty (Winston) Nicholson of New Maryland; five grandchildren Barbara (Randy) Doherty, Leslie (Yvette) Jones, Michelle (Trevor) Smith, Ginger Nicholson, and Todd Nicholson; nine great grandchildren Amanda Doherty, Katlyn Doherty, Michael Jones, Victoria Jones, Rodney Duplessis, Carter Duplessis, Jacob Smith, Cohen Smith, and Owen Nicholson; one great great granddaughter Madison Doherty; two chosen grandchildren Andria (Jim) Nicholson and Bradley (Jennifer) Pond; five chosen great grandchildren Connor, Nina and Bradley Nicholson, Tylor Fowler and Avery Pond; one chosen great great granddaughter Evelyn Hampton-Nicholson; one brother Harry H. Hayward of Nasonworth; four sisters Phyllis Pratt of Prince George BC, Donna (Sonny) Fletcher of Nasonworth, Lois (Frances) Shannon of Nasonworth, Mary (Brian) Phillips of New Maryland; brother in law Eric McMurtrie; sister in law Lillian Hayward; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Idella was predeceased by her husband Russell S. Jones; one brother Bliss Hayward; and one sister Pearl McMurtrie
The family will receive visitors at Nasonworth Baptist Church on Thursday, April 8th from 7 to 9 PM and Friday, April 9th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 10th at 2 PM from Nasonworth Baptist Church with Rev. David Gray officiating. Interment to follow in the adjoining cemetery.
