Rose Pauline (nee Osborne) Gallagher, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2010, surrounded by her family at Fishermen's Memorial Hospital Lunenburg in her 79th year. Beloved wife of George Gallagher for almost 27 years.
Predeceased by her first dear husband Robert James 'Bobby'.
She was the daughter of the late John and Ellen Stanovie of Whitney Pier.
Mother to Brenda, Michael, Ellen, Roberta, Rosemarie (Ler), and Sonya. Special friend to John (Savitzski). Grandmother to Gerald, Darlene, Robert, Delores, Andrew, Michael, Sonya, Rosemarie, Morenike, Daniel, Tegwyn and Justine; grandmother to six grandchildren and aunt to several nieces and nephews. Survived by brother, George, Kitchener and sister, Elizabeth, Sydney.
Predeceased by brothers, John and Jim, and sisters, Martha and Teresa.
Despite many health challenges, Rose loved to socialize and share her life with family and friends, always smiling bravely through the challenges that faced her. For almost 30 years, Rose resided with her husband, George in the Chester area, and came to be a cherished and active member of the community.
She had a passion for knitting and making hand crafted gifts. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed crosswords.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rosedale Home for special care in New Germany, where Rose received exceptional care for the past two years, your compassion will always be remembered. Also, the nurses at The Fishermen's hospital in Lunenburg, where Rose spent her last days. You are truly the finest examples of the nursing profession.
In keeping with Rose's wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Little Red Schoolhouse in Canaan, the heart of the community that Rose came to love so much.
Friends and family may attend the blessing and interment of Rose's ashes at All Saints Anglican Cemetery in Canaan on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 4 p.m., Fr David Dellapinna officiating.
At a later date, as Rose requested, some of her ashes will be returned to her beloved Cape Breton, which always held a special place in her heart.
