Fisher, Doris Blanche, Brookfield, passed away peacefully at Val’s Rest Home in Hilden on May 19, 2009 just four days before her 87th birthday. Born in Upper Stewiacke, she was the youngest child of the late Martin S. and Harriet (Dickie) Fulton. Doris spent most of her life in Brookfield and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. After graduating from business college, Doris worked for over 25 years as secretary for the Brookfield High School and received numerous awards honoring her professional expertise and organizational ability. She was well respected by her colleagues. Doris had many friends who shared her love of bowling, cooking, handcrafts and card playing. She was always ready and willing to give the fruits of her culinary skills to others. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Hugh Garnet and longtime companion, John MacLellan; brothers, Arthur, Graham, Wilfred, Blair, Sedley; sisters, Eva, Edith and Muriel. Visitation will be held this evening from 7-9 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23rd at Knox United Church, Brookfield at 10:30 am with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Interment in Brookfield Westside Cemetery.
