The death occurred at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, of Margaret “Peggy” Burns, wife of the late Wilfred S. Burns, of Summerside, aged 91 years. Born in Summerside, she was the daughter of the late William Houston and Ann E. (Pillman-Houston) Paynter. Lovingly remembered by her children, Joyce Bridges, Summerside, Derek (Bonnie MacEachern), Charlottetown, and Brenda Burns (Bill Byers),Toronto, Ont., grandchildren, Phil and Scott Bridges, Margaret Clarkin, Jonathan and Amanda Wenek, Hannah, Sophie, Sebastian and Simon Burns, nine great-grandchildren; stepsister, Florrie Campbell, Charlottetown, and step-sister-in-law, Doris Paynter, Spring Brook. Predeceased by her son-in-law, Fred Bridges, half-brother, Keith Paynter, stepsister, Hattie Bernard, and step-brothers, Fred and Elmer Paynter. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Friday, then to Trinity United Church, Summerside, for funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment in Peoples Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours Friday at Trinity United Church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
