John Fanjoy
The passing of John Vernon Fanjoy of Saint John, NB, husband of Nancy Fanjoy occurred on February 17, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Besides his wife of 60 years, he is survived by daughter Pamela Fanjoy-Knight of Rothesay, son John M. Fanjoy (Rita) of Ottawa, three sisters Florence Campbell, Muriel Taylor (Robert) of Saint John and Gladys Stoyanowski of Arborg, MB. Predeceased by his parents George and Eileen Fanjoy, brother Charles and son-in-law Dale Knight. John was a proud Veteran of WWII, serving in Canada, United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. He returned to civilian life in August 1946 and was awarded the WWII Decorations of: 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, War Medal 1939-45 and was presented in 2005 with a special Medal in regards to the Liberation of Holland. A Tribute to a Veteran Service was performed on February 20, 2011 which was truly touching and deeply appreciated by his wife and children. John enjoyed listening to music, loved animals and was an avid viewer of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune which he excelled at. Both he and Nancy loved travelling, made many trips across Canada, visiting Bermuda and travelled extensively throughout the United States.
A Funeral Service was held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel (Paradise Row) at 12:00 Noon on February 21, 2011 officiated by (Rev.) Father Stuart Allan (Trinity and Mission Church), with a scripture reading by son John M. Fanjoy and the organist was Mr. Barry Snodgrass playing “Nearer My God To Thee” and “Ava Maria”. Interment will be held at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery on Friday April 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Nancy, Pamela and John M. wish to thank those who visited, especially our special friends who attended the funeral service, sent donations, flowers and a special thanks to (Rev.) Father Allan.
