Lynds, Lawrence Layton – Age 73, of Truro and formerly of Wentworth, passed away June 3, 2018, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, with loved ones by his side.
Lawrence was a son of the late Layton and Ida (Henderson) Lynds.
Surviving are his best friend and partner, Mary Arkens; son, Leland (RoseAnn); grandchildren, Shania, Layton and Brooke; brother, Dennis (Vicki); sister, Debby Alexander; nephew, Craig; nieces, Sherry, Amber, Holly; Mary’s children, Brad and Kevin Arkens; grandchildren, Eden and Adam. He will also be missed by his constant companion, Ocean.
He was predeceased by sister, Judy Lynds Beuree; nephew, Shannon Lynds.
Lawrence was very fortunate to meet Mary, his best friend, 17 years ago. Together they enjoyed a full life and took yearly trips to various spots. They made wonderful memories and friends through their love of fishing, and spent summers in Bass River where he taught many friends how to catch the big one. During the winter, time was passed with their mutual love of hockey, playing cards, and visiting family and friends.
Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of Lawrence’s life will be held on Saturday, June 9, 1-3 p.m., in Wentworth Recreation Centre, followed by burial in Wentworth Baptist Cemetery. Anyone wishing to say a few words at the gravesite would be welcome to do so.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wentworth Baptist Cemetery on the day of the celebration of life or mailed to Wentworth Baptist Cemetery c/o Faye Langille, 6618 Wentworth, NS B0M 1Z0.
