Juanita Marie Gorman

Lieu de naissance : Glace Bay, Nouvelle Ecosse

Date de décès : 26 janvier 2019

Juanita Marie Gorman, (Campbell) age 83, Halifax, surrounded by her family passed away January 26, 2019 at Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home Halifax. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. Juanita always put her family first.
Born in Glace Bay she was the daughter of the late John (Jack) and Agnes Campbell (Murphy).
She is survived by her children, Cheryl, of Lower Sackville, Andrea (late Frank “Bud” Davies) and Greg (Heather), of Lantz; sister, Betty, Halifax; brothers, Kenneth (Patsy), Bedford and Kevin (Magdalene), Victoria B.C.; grandchildren, Erin, Caitlyn, Jimmy, Sarah, Ryan, Jack and Cole, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Charles (Carol), Duane (Norma), Francis and Jackie (Marie); former husband, Earl Gorman.
Juanita was a strong, independent and faithful woman. She retired from a career with the federal public service where she worked for over 25 years with what was at that time called the Department of Public Works. Juanita spent a large portion of her life in Lower Sackville where she and Earl raised their family. She was a wonderful friend and neighbour to many. She was a devoted Catholic and faithfully attended Mass. She was a member of Saint John Vianney and Saint Elizabeth Seton parish. During this time Juanita became involved with The Christopher’s where she attended several leadership courses as both a student and an instructor. Her devotion to her faith also led her to volunteering with the Sisters of Charity upon their arrival at Parkland Shannex. She remained a dedicated volunteer there from 2003 – 2014.
Juanita loved to get outside and walk. From the Great Wall of China to the trails and sidewalks of Clayton Park, only the worst of weather would keep her inside and, on these occasions, she would take the opportunity to hunker down with a good book. Mom loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. We will all miss the opportunity to spend time with her in her kitchen having a quiet chat and a cup of tea. Her memory will live forever in our hearts.
Juanita’s family would like to thank Dr. Clarke and the 6th floor staff at Saint Vincent’s. A special thank you to Dale and Cathy. Your compassion for Mom in her final days brought tremendous comfort to us and we will be forever grateful.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Atlantic Funeral Homes.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday February 2nd at Saint John Vianney Church in Lower Sackville with reception to follow in the church hall. Family flowers only.
