Phillips, Richard Wayne, 74, of Windsor, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2019 with his family by his side in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Rick (or Tiddly Phil) spent 25 years in the Royal Canadian Navy travelling the world and made many lifelong friendships. He then went on to the St. John’s Shipbuilding until his retirement in 1990. Rick’s grandchildren were his world and sole reason for getting up every day and fighting his health battles. Rick enjoyed going for long drives, his meals at Walker’s and spending time with friends and family. There were many hospital stays over the past few years and many people to thank, but the family would like to thank the Victoria General Hospital, Unit 5B staff for everything they did for Rick. There were many great staff members who made his long stay bearable and worked through some very hard days with kindness and patience. The staff at the Hants Community Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit and Dr. Tim Matheson for letting our family take over the Unit for Rick’s send off. And a special thanks to his niece Karen who always made sure Rick was well taken care of. Thanks to those who stopped by with love and support to help celebrate Rick’s life; it meant so much to him and his family. Rick will laid to rest later this year. Rick is survived by his son, Christopher; daughters, Suzanne (Ryan) King, Pamela (Donnie) LeBlanc, Bea (Mandy) Phillips. His grandchildren, Connor Singer, Emily King (Matt Priestnall), Morgan King, Maddie and JoJo LeBlanc; his ex-wife and friend, Heather Drew; brothers, Frank (Diane), David (Kathy); Sisters, Barb (Bob) MacInnis, Paulette Phillips (Sandy Frank), Shelley (John) Mason and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
