It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Arthur Simms who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Feb. 14, 2019 at the age of 78.
Art was born in Glace Bay, May 4, 1940 to the late Jack and Velitta (Rideout) Simms.
Art will be sadly missed by the love of his life, Roseanne; his children, Arlene (Tex), Nick (Connie), Tonya and Mike; stepdaughters, Kerri and Marilyn (Jason). Art truly loved spending time with his grandchildren, Stephen, Matthew, Jarret, Ty, Danielle (Chetan), Mitchell, Ryan, Chad, Keegan, Braydan and Luke; great-grandchildren, Evan and Rylan.
Art also leaves behind to mourn his beloved siblings, Gordon (Linda), Jack (Helen), Brenda (Bill) and Jim (Maureen), who was truly his guardian angel. He will be also missed by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Art was predeceased by his sister, Thelma; his beloved son-in-law, Sean Vivian and his special nephew, Johnny Osborne.
Art was employed as a logger in Deer Lake, NL. He fished for many years in Nova Scotia.
Art enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved fishing, hunting, and telling stories. He was happiest spending time with family and friends and had a love for Newfoundland music.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019 at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. (902-849-4199). Followed by a luncheon in the reception area.
