Aidaen Mitchell

Lieu de décès : Halifax, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 21 février 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our daughter and granddaughter, Aidaen Mae Mitchell, at the age of only 14. She passed peacefully while surrounded by family at the IWK Children’s Hospital during the early morning hours of February 21st, 2019. Born in Cobb County, Georgia (USA), “Miss Mae” completed our family at only 7 days old. She is survived by a very large family across Canada and the USA, including her younger brother, Nolan Folkerts of Saskatchewan; Scott & Kelly Mitchell (Parents, Yarmouth, NS), Wade & Venie Nickerson (Grandparents, Yarmouth, NS), Paul & Debbie Black (Grandparents, Saint John, NB), Doug & Tina Mitchell (Grandparents, Waasis, NB). Raised here in Yarmouth, Aidaen has always been an active volunteer in our community. She worked her summers at Camp Peniel Christian Camp, loved her Wesleyan Church youth group, and was a devoted member of the MGEC Memorial Club. She cherished her family and friends, her animals, her music, and sports. Aidaen was a current member of the Yarmouth Kia Comets U16 Rep girls’ basketball team, as well as the YCMHS Viking’s Junior Varsity girls’ basketball team. She was a past member of the 2017-2018 MGEC Cheerleading team, MGEC soccer team, and the Pet Valu Rep Soccer team. It is no secret that she disliked practices, yet put her heart and soul in to each game she played. With her infectious giggle and radiant smile, Aidaen was a beacon of light for everyone. She always cared about the happiness and well-being of others above herself. Recently she decided to study Child Protective Services after high school knowing she could help children when they needed it the most. Aidaen’s ongoing battle with her own mental health was deeper than anyone could have imagined. She fought her own battles every day until she could no longer fight. A celebration of Aidaen’s life was held Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Yarmouth Wesleyan church. We invited everyone to join us as we enjoyed photos, videos, and cherished memories of our beloved daughter and granddaughter. Food and refreshments were shared during this time. Aidaen’s cremation was finalized by Sweeny’s Funeral Home in Yarmouth. There will be no funeral or burial service at this time. Donations can be made in Aidaen’s memory to the IWK Children’s Hospital or to any Nova Scotia based Children’s mental health organization. On-line condolences may be sent to: sweenysfh@eastlink.ca or you may sign the guestbook on-line at: www.sweenysfuneralhome.net
