Of Truro, and formerly of Shubenacadie, passed away on May 19, 2019 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Grand Lake, Halifax County, he was a son of the late Wilbert and Lena (Hines) (Isenor) Smiley. Ray worked as a carpenter around the Shubenacadie area and also worked at National Gypsum. Later in life he went to Teacher’s College and became an Industrial Arts teacher, teaching in Hants East Rural High School until his retirement, when he and his wife moved to Truro. Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Eunice; children, Bruce (Mary Ellen), Darlene (Richard) Walsh; grandchildren, Ryan, Lindsey, Jessica and Joanna; great-grandchildren, Jewel, Aujrina, Ava and Clara. He was predeceased by brothers, Kenneth and Edward; sisters, Freda and Marguerite. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
