Timothy Douglas ATKINSON

Timothy Douglas ATKINSON

It is with profound sadness that the family of Timothy Douglas Atkinson, 59, of Sackville and British Settlement announces his sudden and unexpected passing on July 9, 2019 at home, following a prolonged period of illness. Born in Summerside, PEI, he was the son of Florence Hicks, Sackville and the late Douglas C. Atkinson. In addition to his mother, he is survived by brothers Edward (Brenda), Oxford, NS and Jason (Barbara) Hicks, Halifax, NS; sister Sandra Atkinson (Eli Collins), Dartmouth, NS; nieces Caitlin, Isabelle, Amy and nephew Shawn; many aunts and uncles, as well as numerous cousins and his canine companion Jak. He was predeceased by his father Douglas; sister Patricia Marlee; step-father Adrian Hicks, paternal grandparents, Gerald and Mildred (Atkinson) and maternal grandparents Walton and Madeline Sullivan, Aunt Vivian Sullivan. Tim began his formal education in St. Mard Belgium and was graduate of Tantramar Regional High School and Mount Allison University. He served briefly in the Canadian Armed Forces and was a former employee of Corrections Canada. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No 26. Tim was an avid reader and outdoors man, having spent the last 15 years living off the grid. He would pass many hours and was very content sitting on the bank of a body of water, fishing rod in one hand and a book in the other. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). In keeping with Tim's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or funeral service. Those wishing to donate in Tim's memory may do so to the Heart and Stroke, or the LA Animal Shelter. Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting Tim's online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page. "If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away." - Henry David Thoreau
