Arthur L. "Sonny" TERFRY

Age 83, of Truro passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Apple River, he was the youngest son of the late Arthur and Lila (McWhirter) Terfry. Art was well known for operating his coffee truck in the Truro area for many years. He was also part owner of Art’s Used Cars with his friend, the late Leon Purdy. In later years he opened Art’s Used Cars in Bible Hill. Art was a member of the Golden Age Automobile Club. His passion was restoring antique cars, and his favorite place was working in his garage. His motto was “Love my wife, worship my cars.” He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolea (Lamont); a daughter, Shelley Crowe (Wayne), Truro; sons, Arthur (Janet), Randy (Karen), Glen, all of Truro; 8 grandchildren; a great grandson; sisters-in-law, Madeline Terfry, Mary Terfry, Linda Murray (Rick); brother-in-law, Bob Lamont (Frankie); his “just like a son”, Pat Hayes; good friend and car buddy, Phil Talbot; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Elsie Graham and Annie Dunbar; brothers, Wilfred, Wilbert and Cedric. Art’s family would like to thank Dr. Lori Wood for her care and concern, Dr. Stephen Ellis, staff of the emergency department and the palliative care unit in Truro. Family flowers only. Visitation 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial in Parrsboro Baptist Cemetery.
