GODFREY, ANDREW WILLIS JOHN - It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Andrew Willis John Godfrey, formerly of Bayside Drive, and loving husband of Elizabeth (O’Brien) Godfrey, which occurred on Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Kennebec Manor. Born in 1919 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Archibald and Muriel (Haslett) Godfrey. Andrew worked as a Stationary Engineer for the former TB and DVA Hospitals, retiring from The Saint John Regional Hospital. He was a Chartered Member of North Side Assembly. Devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he loved working on his tractor in his garden, and building and repairing in his garage. Besides his loving wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by his daughter, Shirley (Brian) Gardiner, of Saint John; brothers, William (Donna), of Saint John, and Archibald (Carol), of Quispamsis; sisters, Gloria (Jack) Cunningham, of Clarks Harbour, NS, and Susan Godfrey, of Saint John; grandchildren, Brian Gardiner, of Saint John, and Wendy (Chris) Newell-Howard, of Ontario; great-grandchildren, Terrence and Caleb Newell-Howard; step-mother, Joan Godfrey, of Saint John; and special cousins, Ronald Haslett, of Ohio, and Mary (Harry) Gorman, of Saint John. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, John Godfrey.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 10:30am. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
