It is with great sadness that we announce the passing Donald Gwynn of Sydney, on July 9, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born in Aspy Bay, he was the son of the late Allen and Helen (MacAskill) Gwynn.
Donald was employed in the insurance industry for many years. He was a member of Sydney River United Protestant Church. An avid sports fan he was especially proud of the Boston Bruins winning the Stanley Cup this year.
He is survived by his son, Grant, Vancouver, B.C.; sisters, Grace MacDonald, Virginia Sutherland, Sydney; brothers, John (Eleanor) East Bay, Lloyd, Maple Ridge, B.C.; and his special friend, Maureen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Donald was predeceased by a son, Craig in infancy, sister, Cathy Forsythe, and brothers, Wendell and Robert.
Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 13 at 2 p.m. at the United Protestant Church of Sydney River with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Interment will be in Aspy Bay United Church Cemetery on Thursday, July 14 at 2 p.m.
