HACHEY, BENJAMIN HUGH - The death of Ben H. Hachey of Oromocto, NB occurred at his residence on Sunday, August 7, 2011. Born in Newcastle he was the son of the late Benjamin and Dorothy (King) Hachey and husband of the late Elizabeth (Roy) Hachey. Ben enlisted in the military in 1941 and served in both World War II and in the Korean War. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93 and the Korean Vets. He also belonged to the Gunners Association and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He is survived by his daughter, April Haliburton (Vernon Leighton) of Shubenacadie, NS; brother, Bliss Hachey of Newcastle as well as his sister, Yvonne Lynch of Nelson, NB. Ben was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth; his parents and his brothers, Roy and Reg Hachey.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93 holding a tribute at 7 pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ken Weir as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
