It is with great sadness the family of the late George Percey Dempsey age 69 of Amherst,announce his passing on Monday, October 26, 2009 in the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Morden, Kings County, NS he was a son of the Charles and Kathryn (Stark) Dempsey.
In his younger years, George worked on several farms in the Annapolis Valley and later took an oil burner mechanic course and for many years worked as a furnace technician. In recent years he worked at the NS/NB border in the numeration booth. He was president of the Senior Citizens Club in Springhill and Vice President of the Cumberland Senior Counsel and on the board of directors for the Fundy Senior Games.
George is survived by his wife the former Carol Smith, two daughters Phyllis Dempsey of Moncton and Renee Fulton of Amherst; one son Charles (Chuck) of Amherst; eight grandchildren Jessica, Kristie, Emma, Mitchell, Summer, Joey, Andrew and Georgia; two great grandchildren Keegan and Shayla; sisters Marion and Joyce both of the Annapolis Valley and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son Darcy, brothers Bruce, Doug and Lloyd.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, October 30, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst followed by interment in the Bayfield Cemetery, New Brunswick.
Memorial donations in George's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or the charity of your choice.
