It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our loving husband, father and grandfather Major Preston "Dick" MacDonald after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Born Oct. 18, 1940, in Milo, he was the son of the late Grover and Mary (Campbell) MacDonald and husband of 48 years to Sheila (Burke) MacDonald. Mom and Dad enjoyed 16 years of retirement after working for 30 years at the Fredericton Airport. He enjoyed camping with his family, fishing, hunting and playing cards but most of all he enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. Dad is survived by his loving wife, Sheila; his children, Lorilee Marsden (Roger), Rick MacDonald (Suzanne) and Tracy Pugh (Kevin); precious grandchildren, Samantha (Joel Gravel) and Drew Marsden, Steven, Matt, Nick MacDonald and Aaron Pugh. He is also survived by his siblings, Arnold, Gordon, Keir (Rose), Florence Myers (Rufus) Shirley Brooks (Grant), Nina Munch (John), Jack (Linda), Wayne (Rena), Blair (Gerarda), Daryl (Rushall); his brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvina "Sis" McLellan (Austin), John (Wanna), Clarence (Betty), Ken (Bonnie), Sonny (Linda), Doug (Joyce); special brother-in-law, Howard Arsenault and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents; his parents-in-law, Danny and Emma Burke; his brother, Cecil and brothers-in-law, George and Billy. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home, Ormocto, N.B., on Friday, March 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lincoln on Saturday, March 17, at 12 noon with Fr. Monte Peters as celebrant. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Arsenault, Leo Profit, Joe Rogers and Nathan Marsden. For those who wish, donations in memory of Dad may be made to the IWK Children's Hospital.
