Cleveland (Topham), Ellen Gridley – 84, of Digby, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in the Tideview Terrace, Digby. Born in Natick, Massachusetts; she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Myra (Gridley) Topham. Ellen battled Alzheimer’s for 11 years with the support of her family. She was cherished by her husband, Tom, and even after she was placed under care in the Tideview Terrace he still spent his days with her. Aside from her husband, Ellen will be missed by her sons Tommy (Becky), Grafton; Ben (Karen), Digby; John (Lori), Digby; daughters Marsha (Carl “Sleepy” Thomas), Halifax; Janice (Cliff) Hopper, Halifax; Meredith (Harold) Alexander, North Range; Carol (John) Drish, Halifax; grandchildren James Hopper; Nathan; Jennifer; Liam Alexander; Megan Alexander; Rebecca, Bethany, Sarah, Brent; Katie; Molly Drish; Patrick Drish; great granddaughter Jenna Hopper; brother Thomas (Nancy) Topham, Nadick, Mass., sister Ann Taylor, Yarmouth; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Ellen is predeceased by her sister Grace Linscott; and brother-in-law Eric Taylor. Cremation has taken place and at Ellen’s request there will be no service at this time. Donations in Ellen’s memory may be made to the Tideview Terrace.
