STRONG, Elizabeth R. “Liz” – 54, of Amherst passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2012 at All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Pugwash, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Maie (Rushton) Higgins. Liz worked at the Teletech call center as the head custodian, and will always be remembered for that quick smile and warm attitude. She is survived by her husband, Rupert Strong, Springhill; a daughter, Gail Strong, Springhill; sons, Lealand Strong, Springhill and Earl St. Croix (April), Amherst; six grandchildren, Mark and Tyler Strong; Jayden and Hayden St. Croix; Syrinity and Ryleigh Smith; sisters, Mildred and Donna Higgins, both of Parrsboro; a brother, Robert Higgins (Annie), Amherst; a half sister, Dora Chapman (Eugene), Elmsdale; a half-brother, Duncan Carter (Judy), Amherst Head; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Hilda Canning, Gertie Higgins and Joyce St. Croix; a brother, Stanley Higgins; two half-sisters, Leona Richards and Inez Sharpe; two half-brothers, Borden and Trueman Carter. Visitation 6-8 p.m. today [Tuesday, March 20, 2012] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday [March 21, 2012], Rev. Greg Doyle officiating.
