Grace Rowena (Ivany) Kane

Kane, Grace Rowena (Ivany) – 1959 – 2012, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2012 at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Grace was the daughter of Catherine Burnette Ivany Lane of Truro and the late Willis Ivany of Hilden. She was the wife of Michael W. Kane, Hilden; mother of Michael David (Shannon) Kane, Dartmouth; grandmother of April Chipman Kane, Dartmouth; sister of David (Joyce), Selma, Hants Co; daughter-in-law of Michael F. (Pearl) Kane, Dartmouth. She is also survived by brother-in-law Donnie (Lynn) Kane, sister-in-law Patricia (Graham) McNeil, both of Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews; special brother Robert “Bobbie” (Lynn) Burnette, Sackville; cousins Ronnie and Robert Kirkwood, BC; Kathy Lazarre, Jimmy (Stacey) Burnette, Scott Burnette, all of Ontario; uncle Ken Burnette, Ontario; and many cousins in Cape Breton. Grace was a Nova Scotia Government Employee for several years in Dartmouth, Halifax and Pictou. She was an avid figure skater, hockey mother and wife. She loved to knit, crochet and read, and enjoyed having an open house on all holidays. The love of her life was her family, especially Michael “M.D.” and April. One of her favorite passions was cooking for “The Boys”, and she especially loved flowers. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Janice Newcombe and the 4th floor nurses at the Colchester Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1st from 7-9pm, with funeral service on Wednesday, May 2nd at 11am, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Interment in the Hilden Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Hilden Cemetery. On-line condolences may be made at: www.colchestercommunity.com
