The family of Clyde Ralph Crandall, aged 51, of Saint John, N.B., is saddened to announce his sudden passing on May 7, 2012, at home of natural causes.
Clyde was born in Saint John, N.B., to Lloyd William Crandall (Helen) of Harding’s Point, N.B., and the late Esther Elizabeth (Fitch) Crandall.
Besides his father and stepmother, he is survived by his sister, Susan Crandall (David Wright), Halifax, N.S.; brothers, Scott (Bronwyn) Crandall, Long Reach, N.B., and Brett (Linda) Crandall, Maple Ridge, B.C.; nephews, Judson Crandall and Caleb Crandall and niece, Wren Crandall; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Clyde was a parishoner of Corner Stone Baptist Church, as well as, a member of the choir and very much enjoyed his work with Corner Stone’s children’s and youth groups at various times.
He was absolutely dedicated to his beloved mother’s well-being, particularly over the past decade, and visited her faithfully each day until her passing in August 2011 in Rocmaura Nursing Home, after which he continued to volunteer his time at the home.
He worked for many employers in his life, but his favourite occupation was as Santa Claus, a role he played for several Christmas seasons in malls around Saint John. In recent years, he worked at Saint John City Laundry and The Barrack Green Armoury, where he worked at the time of his passing.
Clyde enjoyed Saint John, and loved his walks through the city centre, the West Side where he grew up, and many other areas he knew and loved throughout his life. In his travels, he made many friends and acquaintances who will remember his kindness, gentle nature and goodness of spirit for many years to come.

A memorial service will be held at Corner Stone Baptist Church, 42 Leinster St., Saint John, N.B., on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. A private family interment will take place at Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville, N.S., at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Clyde’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
