Margaret ‘Theresa’ (Murphy) Giroux, LaBelle, passed away peacefully of lung cancer in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, on Jan. 9, 2013.
She was Born Aug. 1, 1932 in New Waterford. Theresa followed her husband and lived for two year periods in Ottawa Ont., Calgary, Alta., Montreal Que., Moscow Russia, Rome Italy, Seoul Korea, Los Angeles, Calif., visiting surrounding areas during vacation times, but always returning to Nova Scotia.
She was employed for a short period by the R.B.C. in Montreal as a key punch operator, but her main passion and work was in ladies fashions & styles, working as manager at ladies high-end boutiques; Weatherall in the Ottawa area. Her favourite sport was golf, and she was a member for many years at “Oakfield” in Nova Scotia.
Theresa was well known by everyone as a generous, gentle, gregarious and caring person. She will be forever remembered by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph George Giroux, LaBelle; daughter, Bridgitte Yvonne Westhaver (Richard), Chelsea; grandson, Eric Findlay (Grace); three great-grandsons, Evan, Jacob and Alexander Findlay, all of Grand Lake, N.S.; grandson, Mark Findlay, Kazakhstan; sister, Isabelle Pioveson and family, New Waterford; several cousins, nieces and nephews in British Columbia, Ontario, Nova Scotia and the USA.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Monday in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Immediately followed by Interment in Chelsea Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, South Shore Regional Hospital and palliative care.
