WINOTT, Mrs. Clara Gertrude-86 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville with her family by her side. Born in Ross Corner, Kings Co., April 7, 1926, she was the former Clara Graves, youngest daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Thorpe) Graves. She moved to Baxter’s Harbour to teach school and later settled in Kingston, NS. While working at the Canadian Bank of Commerce in 1949 she met her future husband, Blake Arnold Winott, whom she married in 1951. The greater part of her married life spent in Kingston was centered around her home, church and community. She was a member of the Kingston First Baptist Church, Kingston Ladies Fire Auxiliary and the Kingston Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by her loving husband Blake Winott, Kingston; daughter Cynthia Winott, Houston, Texas; son, Darrell (Linda) Winott, Nictaux and twin sister, Darlene “Darcy” (Jim) Murray, Amherst; sisters; Marjorie Pineo, Kentville; Hazel Foster, Auburn; Dorothy Foote, Kentville; grandchildren, William Murray and Edward Murray; step grandchildren, Andrew (Joselyn) and Cara (Nathan); step great grandchildren, Haley, Noah, Sylvia and Keylin. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by son, Eric in infancy; sisters, Frances Longley and Pansey Rogers and brothers, Bedford Graves and Luther Graves. Visitation was held 2:00 to 5:00PM, Friday, February 15, 2013 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448, where the funeral service was held 2:00PM Saturday, February 16, 2013 with Rev. Leon Langille and Rev. John Beers officiating. Interment in the North Kingston Cemetery. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. McGuire and the ED Staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Special thanks to the ED, ICU and Palliative Care Staff at Valley Regional Hospital for the best medical care and compassion they could have possibly asked for.
