1921-2013
Vera Isabel MacCulloch, a kind and gentle soul of 92 years, passed away peacefully in the predawn hours of February 28, 2013, in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Born in Millbrook, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late James and Jessie (MacLeod) Fraser. A former long-time resident of Oxford, Nova Scotia, she is predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Harold MacCulloch; a son, Robert in 1958; a grandson, Bryce; four brothers, Allister, Chester, Lloyd and Raymond; and a sister, Evelyn. She will be sadly missed by four daughters, Sheila (Keith) Patterson, Manotick, ON; Ruth (Robert) Jardine, Charlottetown; Margie (Mike) Reid, Bear River, N.S.; and Judy (Martin) Jamieson, Dartmouth, N.S.; three sons, Ernie (Lynda), Dartmouth, N.S.; Dan, of Nictaux Falls, N.S.; and Alex (Gwen McSwain), Ashburn, ON; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ella Tupper, Jean Henderson and Myrtle Wooldridge; two brothers, James (Margaret) Fraser and Donald (Yvonne) Fraser; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was an adherent of the United Church of Canada, a member of the UCW and a proud hard working mother of eight. Her teachings, quick wit, beautiful smile we will treasure always.
The family is eternally grateful for the constant loving care provided to our Mother by Ruth and Rob over the past 11 years.
Remember her with a smile and random acts of kindness.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of W Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford, N.S. (902-447-2167) from where visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013. Rev. Gary MacDougall officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in her memory be made to the Crohn's and Collitis Foundation.
