Mary "Molly" Montgomerie Armstrong

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary (Molly) Montgomerie Armstrong announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Prince Edward Nursing Home, Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Molly was a true warrior battling Alzheimer's for over 14 years. She was born in Maidstone, Kent, England, and grew up in Broughty Ferry, Scotland. Molly was an accomplished equestrian, field hockey player and an Olympic class swimmer. Upon immigration to Canada in 1959 she continued her involvement in the equestrian industry as a rider, trainer, coach, Senior Stewart and Judge for many years. Molly was involved in the forming of the Pony Club on P.E.I. and was the first District Commissioner. She was also involved in the formation and running of the Cornwall and Area Figure Skating Club.
She was a loving and caring mother of two children, Janet Harrigan (Paul), and Linda McGee (Donald). She will be sorrily missed by her family. Molly is also survived by husband, Graeme, and will lovingly be remembered by her sister, Janet. She was predeceased by her mother - Janet; father - Col. James Montgomerie; sister - Margaret; brothers - John and Robert (Bob).
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford. At the families request, a private graveside service will be held.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the care and support given over the years, by special care staff, as well as Dr. Rockwood and his team in Halifax, N.S.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society Research Program.
