With deep sadness the family of Phyllis “Yvonne” Metherall, 52, of Dartmouth, NS (formerly of Clarenville, Newfoundland), announce her passing from her courageous yet dignified battle with cancer on June 23, 2013 at the VG Hospital in Halifax, NS. Born February 12, 1961 in Fogo, Newfoundland she was the daughter of Isabel Blanche Mercer (Eveleigh), Clarenville, Newfoundland and the late John William Mercer. Phyllis “Yvonne” was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She accepted her fate with dignity and grace and never once complained. She will be missed by everyone. She worked at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Halifax, NS for 17 years and went above and beyond in her care of the veterans. She recently received an Angels in Action award for recognition of her work with the veterans. Survived by her husband Kenneth “Wayne”; sisters, Wanda (Ed) Best; Marina (Brant) Dyer and Pauline (Roy) Snelgrove; her father-in-law Kenneth Metherall; sister-in-law, Karen (Richard) Wood; brother-in-law, Gary Metherall; and her nieces and nephews and friends. Visitation took place at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Memorial service was held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville with interment at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff of the unit of 7A VG Hospital, Halifax, NS for their loving care.
