PICCOTT, ARNOLD EDWARD - With great sadness we announce the passing of Arnold Edward Piccott at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital, Moncton, on Wednesday, September 18th, 2013 at the age of 84. Born in Milton, NS on May 5th, 1929, he was the son of the late John “Ted” and Etta (Armburg) Piccott. Arnold is survived by his loving wife, M. Rhonda (LeBlanc) Piccott, daughter Gail Bannister of Halifax, sons; Rick of Moncton, Terry (Della) of Moncton, Chris (Shannon) of Saint John, brothers; Cyril (Marilyn) of Ottawa, Eric (JoAnn) of Halifax, grandchildren; Peter (Andi), Todd (Cindy), Kurt (Heather), Scott (Anna), Shannon, Nicholas, Sophie, Max and Maggie, son-in-law Gary Bannister, great-grandchildren; Michael, Timothy, Logan, Jackson and Danniel. Arnold was District Manager of Economical Mutual Insurance Co. from 1956 until his retirement in 1990. Arnold taught insurance courses for many years at the Memramcook Institute and the Moncton Community College. Arnold was a Sunday School Superintendent for Saint John the Baptist Anglican Church, Riverview for 12 years, President of the Citation Indian Trailer Club, President of the Cape Bimet Residence Association, he curled at the Beaver Curling Club, golfed and refereed Riverview Minor League Hockey. Arnold had many things he loved, his family first, camping, trailering, and travelling to many countries. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed a bee keeping, wine making, needlepoint, rug hooking, and wood carving. In his retirement, he enjoyed cottage life and winters in Florida and square dancing. He played the accordion, the electric keyboard and later the harmonica. He started every morning with the morning newspaper. Many heartfelt thanks to the Doctors and staff of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital and the staff of Fair Haven Funeral Home.
In memory of Arnold a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, or donor’s choice would be appreciated.
Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home, Friday evening, September 20th, from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Saturday, September 21st, at 3:00 pm, The Reverend Chris VanBuskirk officiating.
