COUNTRY HARBOUR, Guysborough Co. – Emery Patrick Chamberlain, 95, Country Harbour, Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 24, 2013, in Highcrest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care.
Born in Lorne, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Joseph and Maise (Mallaley) Chamberlain.
Emery made his living as a pulp cutter. He enjoyed a good game of crib, loved horses and was a former member of the Pictou County Light Horse Club and the Antigonish Saddle Club. He was an adherent of Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
Emery is survived by his wife of 68 years Kathleen; son, Weldon (Eleanor), Country Harbour; daughter, Wendy (Joe) Bowman, New Glasgow; foster-daughter, Carol Dunphy, Dartmouth; grandchildren: Lonnie, Tamara, Lucas; great-grandchildren: Reese, Reillie, Cameron, Jeremy, Joseph; brother, Herman (Eva) Gallen, Belledune, N.B.; sister, Irene Kupchanko, Hamilton, Ont.; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers: David, John, Albert, Crandle Chamberlain and William Gallen; sisters: Dorina Mulaley, Leona Sampson and Mary Chamberlain.
Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour with funeral service on Friday at 2 p.m. in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Country Harbour with Rev. Peter Armstrong officiating. Interment at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Highcrest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care, Holy Trinity Anglican Church or Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery.
Emery’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Highcrest for the wonderful kindness and care given to him.
Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of the G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, 17545 Highway 316, Country Harbour.
