With sadness we announce Margaret Turley passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Margaret was the daughter of Helen and Frank Turley.

She was predeceased by her twin sister Ellen.

She is survived by her brothers Frank (Robin), Bill (Julie) and Bob (Joyce). She will be missed by nephews Greg, Frank, Bob, John and Michael, nieces Elona and Kate. She will also be missed by her dear friend Tamylyn Boyer.

Margaret was born at Royal Inland Hospital, graduated from Kamloops Senior Secondary in 1976, an athlete and honor student. She studied at UBC graduating in 1980 with degrees in Occupational and Physical Therapy. Immediately following graduation, Margaret and two friends bicycled from Tofino, BC to Cape Spear, Nfld. This was followed by a two year posting with CUSO at a leprosy hospital in Nigeria. Upon her return, Margaret worked in several communities in BC and Alberta as an Occupational Therapist. Later she returned to school and obtained her Master of Social Work degree and provided counseling and therapy to children in the Kamloops area.

Margaret was an advocate of the disadvantaged and marginalized. She was a strong believer in diversity, children, women's rights and helping the less fortunate.

The family would like to thank Tamylyn who was always a ray of light to Margaret. We also would like to thank all health care workers involved in Margaret's care, especially the staff at the Kamloops Senior Village.

A Celebration of Margaret's life will take place at Schoenings Funeral Home on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kamloops SPCA would be appreciated.
