Burns, James Charles “Jim”, age 61, of Three Mile Plains, Hants County, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on September 12, 1952, in Windsor, he was the son of the late Owen and Evelyn (Turner) Burns. Jim worked as a boom truck operator for many years at GS Concrete, and retired from the Shaw Group. Jim had a passion for sports, having pitched Fastball and coached minor baseball and hockey. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, four wheeling, fishing, family gatherings and hosted the annual Burns’ family washer toss for 15 years. Jim is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Wanda Diane MacDonald; his children, Jason (Shanna), Strathmore, Alta.; Michelle (Gill), New Minas; two grandchildren, Corson and Charleigh; his siblings, Bob (Faye), Falmouth; Tom (Deb), Lakelands; Doug (Kim), Windsor; Susan (Blair Burke), Mantua; Donnie (Hélène), Kentville; Ron (Maurene), Lower Sackville; David (Wendy Millar), Lower Sackville; Trudy (Garnet Swinamer), Three Mile Plains; Mark (Katharine), Greenhill; sister-in-law, Rosemary Burns, Grand Lake; mother-in-law, Phyllis MacDonald, Three Mile Plains; brothers-in-law, Clark MacDonald, Martock Back Road; Myles (Janet) MacDonald, Welsley MacDonald (Pam Caldwell), Roger (Linda) MacDonald, Three Mile Plains; sister-in-law, Paulette Moore (Brian), Currys Corner; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Roger Paul Burns; father-in-law, Roland MacDonald. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. E. E. Hill officiated. A private family interment in the Columbarium at the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. A reception was held at the Three Mile Plains Community Hall. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
