Myrtle Mazerall
MAZERALL, MYRTLE GERTRUDE - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Myrtle Mazerall announce her death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 at the age of 96. Born in Dumfries, NB, on May 29th, 1918, she was the wife of the late Clifford Mazerall of Hanwell. Myrtle leaves behind her daughter, Verla Crandall; granddaughter, Jillian Green (Andy); great-grandchildren, Greggory (Kayla), Ashleigh and Emma; great-great-granddaughter, Taylor; nieces, Carol, Helena, Irene, Ruth and Doris; and sister-in-law, Doris Carson. In additon to her husband of 64 years, Clifford, Myrtle was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Gertrude (McGirr) Carson; sisters, Hilda MacMullin and Irene Lockhard; brother, Eldon and infant brother, Melvin; nephews, Marvin and Lloyd; as well as son-in-law, Ray Crandall. As one of its first members, Myrtle was a pillar of faith and welcoming face at St. James Presbyterian Church. Very active with her church family, she was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years as well as a member of the Seniors Group and Ladies Guild. In her spare time she loved to walk, work in her vegetable garden, knit, make quilts and bake her delicious brown bread. She was also a volunteer for the Cancer Society and collected for them until into her 90s. Myrtle worked as a teacher in many one room school houses across the province, including the communites of Hanwell, Woodstock and Pokiok. Myrtle will be remembered as a woman who her loved her family, especially all of her grandchildren, whom she adored and always loved to spend time with. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Paradise Villa and especially Myrtle's home caregivers for their kindness and wonderful care over the past few years.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York St., on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church in Hanwell on Wednesday, October 29th at 2 pm with Rev. Wendy MacWilliams officiating. There will be a reception at the church followed by interment in the Hanwell Cemetery.
