MacPHERSON, LEWIS "MAC"
Lewis James "Mac" MacPherson, 82, of Dartmouth, passed away on January 30, 2015 in Oceanview Continuing Care.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Roddie and Sarah (MacLean) MacPherson. Lewis began his career as a policeman in Antigonish. He joined the Black Watch where he proudly served for 15 years. He then joined the Royal Canadian Regiment, 2nd Battalion based in Oromocto and retired in 1983. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Saint Vincent de Paul Parish.
Lewis survived by his daughters, Marilyn (John) Fraser, Madeline (John) Wendover; sons, Harvey (Joanne), David (Kathy), Wade (Nancy), and Darryl; grandchildren, John (Cindy), Chad (Dawn), Scott, Fallon, Troy (Louise), Chelsea (Chris), Julia, Chris, Danielle (Robbie), and Aaron; and 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Edith (Andrews); and his siblings John, Rod, Kay, Mary, and Collie and his best friend Jake.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 2 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday February 3rd at 11am in St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 320 Flying Cloud Drive. Cremation to follow. Private Interment for family in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens to take place on February 4.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Oceanview Continuing Care Centre.
The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers of Oceanview Continuing Care who provided such wonderful care to Dad over the last several years. They were amazing and will be remembered for taking the time to dance a jig with Dad.
