Date de décès : 4 février 2015

It is with Broken Hearts that we, the family of Laura Marsden-Harpell announce her peaceful passing on Feb. 4, 2015, at Harbourstone Enchanted Care surrounded by her loving family in her 86th year.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the eldest daughter of the late Uriah and Margaret Butler and wife of Victor Harpell of Louisbourg.
Mom worked for over 20 years in the labs at the Glace Bay General Hospital until her retirement. Mom’s greatest passion in life was spending time with her family, cooking and baking for them. Mom loved spending time in her flower garden, knitting and quilting. She was a person who put everyone else before herself. She was kind and generous and more than willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. She was Post Mistress, Worthy Mistress and Post County Mistress of the LOBA Lodge.
She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Albert Bridge Fire Department and the Seniors Club of Louisbourg.
Survived by her husband Victor Harpell of Louisbourg; sons, Eric Marsden, North Sydney, Ken (Rose) Milton, Ont.; daughters, Irene (Milton) DeJeet, Mira, Diane (Clifford) Boutilier, Glace Bay; also stepson Brian (Millie) Harpell, Louisbourg; stepdaughter Debbie (Edgar) Spencer, Bateston; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; four step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. Laura is also survived by brothers, Cecil Butler, Wilson (Georgina) Butler; sisters, Alma Kaifosh, Marjorie Wadden, Gertie Thomson and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Laura was predeceased by her first husband of 54 years, Kenneth Marsden, son David and one son and daughter in infancy.
Knowing we are a family of strong faith, Mom is now reunited with her family that has gone before her.
Visitation will take place Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, Feb 8, 2015, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Service will take place Monday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay.
Laura: someone who is happy, friendly and likeable; an individual who loves children, has the fidelity of a close friend; an unobtrusive, faithful lady with eyes that sparkle with mischief! — That was our Mom!
Donations can be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church or to a charity of your choice.
Online condolences can be sent to family at www.pattenfuneral.com.
Special thanks to her angels of St. Ann’s Bay for the tender and loving care they each gave to our Mom during her short stay there.
