WARTMAN, SYDNEY “SYD”
Sydney R. Wartman, 79 of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 with his loving wife at his side.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Harold and Patricia (Gaudet) Wartman. Syd was an accomplished musician performing on Television, Radio, various other venues and as the AHL organist for 10 years. Syd was strong in faith and shared his talents as church organist, with four parishes over a 40 year span. Syd instilled his love of music in many others through his music stores and teaching. Over the years his music has touched the lives of thousands of people.
Syd will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Donna (Scurr) Wartman; daughter, Tracie Landry (Casey Doumitt) of Beirut, Lebanon; sons, David (Heather) of Dartmouth, NS and Larry (Jocelyn) of Halifax, NS; grandchildren, Kathleen Cassell (Danny), Jeremy Wartman, Laura Wartman (Drea), Brianne Patterson (Zack) and Kayley Wartman; great grandchildren Ava, William and Maclean Cassell; sisters and brothers, Brenda Wartman, Palmala Hannah (Wade), Wayne Wartman (Cathy) all of Moncton and Jack Wartman (late Brenda) of Summerside PE; and other extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Diane and son Brian.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Sharing of Memories and Parish Prayers for Syd at 3:30 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Mass at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Falkland St., on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:00 am with Rev. Phil Mulligan officiating. Reception following the Mass.
